Class 7 MOT Bays

class_7_mot_bays

If you are looking at the feasibility to adding MOT facilities to your garage the obvious starting point is to consider Class 7 testing and the reason is simply that the cost difference between equivalent types of Class 4 and Class 7 testing lanes is relatively small so, although the overall space envelope required to achieve the approval criteria is larger, the additional classes of testing that these bays can see will bring immediate benefits for that small additional spend.

Ordinarily it is the entrance configuration or available headroom which makes Class 7 more difficult to achieve in a garage - however if headroom really is a problem then we can still supply a complete MOT station to suit an inspection pit configuration instead - and if you are driven down this route, you will not be limited inyour choice of bay as options exist for traditional 2-man, 1-man or fully automated test bay requirements.

In order to achieve Class 7 testing it makes sense to employ a dedicated MOT scpecialist supplier suuch as ourselves who can work with your architect on new builds or with a building contractor to achieve the space envelope required to test classes 4, 5 lightweight and 7 vehicles - Our MOT equipment packages allow just that!

  • We make the application on your behalf,
  • Support the evidence gathering and also,
  • Attend the various site meetings with the DVSA

and this will enable your MOT project to become reality in a realistic timeframe of 6-8 weeks from point of sale to conducting your first fee paying MOT!

Various bay options exist including traditional 2 man testing, One Person Testing (OPTL), and Automated Testing (ATL) but we can also provide flexible equipment solutions that grow with your businesses development thus allowing you to budget much more effectively in the first years of the mot bays operation.

The various packages for MOT testing are shown below, but for specific advice why not speak to our trained sales team on 0844 800 9785?

Standard, or two-man, mot bays are available to suit lift, or more commonly, inspection pit installations. They are more common for pit based MoT bays as the necessary upgrade equipment to move to one person testing is less expensive for a pit based bay by comparison to a lift variant. Our blog contains articles on mot bay types that may assist you in understanding the available options. If you want to use an inspection pit arrangement then you can visit our dedicated pit bay package page by clicking here.

If you want to minimise your intial purchase costs but maintain options to 'grow' and update your MoT bay slowly in line with your business' development then our upgradeable mot equipment package is the most flexible solution in the market today to give you this facility. An upgradeable MoT bay package should be the minimum consideration for a lift based mot bay. With this type of bay you can choose additional features such as rear slip plates for wheel alignment or an in-platform scissor lift for wheel free work and include them in a lift which could itself be further upgraded for one man or fully automated testing compatibility in the future.

Such flexibility is sure to give your business the edge over the competition.
